Why Neuro Skateboarding?

California cut a $45 million from their Regional Center program this year. Regional Centers are how children with developmental disabilities get access to services like Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, ABA Therapy, etc. With the additional federal cuts to Medicare, the Regional Center program is losing even more resources. This means cut to services for kids and their families.

I couldn't make any sort of useful monetary contribution, so I tried starting a skateboard company. 20% of our profits go to programs that provide services. We can't donate directly to Regional Center funds. Those come exclusively from Medicare. But we can donate directly to the non-profits that directly provide services. So that's what we're doing.

Why skateboarding? Because my own autistic son demonstrated how just the simple act of setting up a board is a form of practicing occupational fine motor skills. Learning to skate teaches kids body awareness, balance, develops their motor skills, and provides them access to community that is super accepting of folks from all walks of life.
